Boggy, Spriggan by Level9Drow Boggy, Spriggan by Level9Drow
Spriggans are the “biggest” and “strongest” of all the Boggies. They are also known to be Fairy bodyguards and are the close relatives to Bauchans and Maugs. The biggest distinguishing quality the Spriggan has is that when they Spasm Burst they grow immense in size and strength. Normally 3 feet tall they look like Hob-Goblins, but when angered they can grow to 8 feet tall and look more like a Giant version of their former selves, retaining all the characteristics and qualities that identify that particular Spriggan, like facial hair, markings, general facial structure, etc…, it’s just that their proportions grow into Ogre-like proportions.

Spiggans are relatively moody and aren’t deep thinkers, nor are they particularly social fey. They do tend to steal a lot, but more so because they think they are entitled to others things just because they can take it and usually no one can do anything about it. So “stealing” isn’t the right term if they take it in front of your face and then ignore you even being there. However despite this they aren’t overtly violent, that is, they don’t seek to cause suffering or pain to others. So this makes them Ideal for protecting the more gentler fairies against the vicious ones like Barguest, Redcaps, Hobyahs, Boggles and the like, which they have no problem squashing.

definantly different to the elder scrolls spriggans, but interesting. definantly shows a lot more to magic if it is literalyl shfiting mass and going hulk.

think the reason why the elder scrolls called those wood creature spriggans because dryad does not sound like a threatening creature.

Yea, that was weird. When I played Merrowind I saw that and was like, "WTF?", but whatever, it's a videogame nt a mythology professor, they have Scamps, Daedra, Mudcrabs, and other of their own mythology anyways so it didn't matter. But Kathrine Briggs says they are ugly little boggies and are said to be the spirits of Giants and so can turn huge. Well, I couldn't make them spirits as that would make them undead, little ghosts of ectoplasmic aether. Back then they had a far inferior view of things (Biology, Physics, Logic and even Spirituality) so they often make HUGE logically flawed and silly nonsensical conclusioabout mythological creatures so being from an era of knowledge and reason you have to "fill in the blanks" of many mythological creatures. The aord Sprirt was SOOOO incredibley vague, it meant fairy, monster, elemental, living, dead, boggy, even they themeselves didn't even know what the word meant, they just through it around like candy and painted anything and everything with the term and so you have to go throuh mythology and re-categoze everything and scrutinize it seeing if it fits Undead, Giant, or Fey, then "Improve" it to todays more sensible standards.

I think either Monstrous Humanoids or Hobbs, most likely Hobbs, I think.

more interested in the monstrous humanoids personally. hobbs would be the logical choice of course, but perhaps too much. i have a better idea of what you might do with the hobbs than the humanoids.

Monstrous Humanoids are not really unified genetically like Hobbs, Boggies and other categories, it just basically means humanoids that are really odd, feral, or way too different to be called normal humanoids yet not animals or beasts. I stil have to ink in more o them and marker them in, but I;m all done inking the Hobbs in, so that's why thehobbs were most likely going to be next. Maybe, we'll see. wither way they're both eventually going to come as well as others.
